Friends of Straus Park, a neighborhood association, is the steward of a lovely memorial park dedicated to honoring the memory of Isidor and Ida Straus. It is located on West 106th Street between Broadway and West End Avenue. Friends of Straus Park maintains the park's infrastructure, cleanliness, and natural beauty while programming events for the community yearlong. All of this work is supported by donations and the efforts of volunteers.
Each year, Friends of Straus Park commemorates the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, with a naval historian’s presentation about the Titanic sinking and the Straus family’s part of this important history. Local politicians speak, and Friends of Straus Park leaders share news about the park’s activities for the year ahead..
Bring the family for a concert of Latin music and danceable rhythms right at Straus Park. FoSP will feature faculty musicians from the Bloomingdale School of Music in this exciting concert. Bring friends and family to enjoy the event.
Last year’s show tune concert was a super hit. So, FoSP decided to do it again! Join for a fun and musical romp through Broadway show tunes and other popular songs. A singer will be performing songs we love to hear and sing along to – with piano accompaniment of course.
