This book bundle includes the Autobiography of Isidor Straus, Disease in Milk: The Remedy Pasteurization, and Under Four Administrations: From Cleveland to Taft, a $110 value.
This 2011 edition of The Autobiography of Isidor Straus is faithful to the original 1955 volume. However, it includes several additions. Photographs from the Straus Historical Society's Archives and other sources are interspersed throughout the text. New information that completes the story of Isidor's life from the point where he left off is added in the Supplement. This volume also includes information about Isidor's public service and philanthropic activities. Articles from the Society's newsletters, which also can be found in the supplement, will give the reader a much broader understanding of Isidor Straus' accomplishments.
Disease in Milk: The Remedy Pasteurization was published by Nathan Straus’ wife Lina Gutherz Straus in 1917. By the time this book was published Nathan had been working for more than twenty years to get communities around the world to accept pasteurization. Lina was at his side, always supporting his efforts to save the lives of babies. The publication of this new edition of Disease in Milk: The Remedy Pasteurization, with a supplement containing additional material, is one way we accomplish our mission. This updated edition of Disease in Milk will give the reader a more complete vision of the life’s work of both Nathan and Lina Straus.
Oscar S. Straus’ autobiography, Under Four Administrations: From Cleveland to Taft, originally published in 1922, was dedicated to his “grandchildren and their contemporaries of every race and creed.” Oscar Straus then dedicated his life to the betterment of humankind through public service. He served under Republicans and Democrats alike. His writing celebrated the human spirit. Moreover, the organizations he founded provided vehicles for his ideals. This 2017 republication of his autobiography acknowledges the contributions he made, not only to his adopted country, but to the world. And it celebrates Oscar S. Straus’ life as the remarkable attainment of the true American Dream.
