Isidor and Ida Straus
Isidor and Ida Straus. They were immortalized by the devotion they had for each other on the Titanic.
The Society has a wealth of information including photos, letters, documents and artifacts about the history and achievements of the family and the family’s involvement in government, commerce, public service and philanthropy. For a number of years we have given talks and presented programs to various organizations around the country about the Strauses. In 2012, we participated in events commemorating the centennial of the Titanic disaster, where Isidor Straus and his wife, Ida, died aboard the ship.

SHS is also available for book signings. We have several publications, many of which can be signed by the author, editor, or a descendant of the Straus Family. The Autobiography of Isidor Straus, re-published in 2011, was offered at several book signings during the events commemorating the Titanic in 2012. The great-grandson of Isidor Straus inscribed each one purchased at the events and was available for pictures.
Joan Adler, Executive Director of SHS, has just recently published For the Sake of the Children: The Letters Between Otto Frank and Nathan Straus, Jr. and is also available for book signings and presentations.
